God’s ways are not our ways. He has a much better plan for our lives than we could ever dream of. I know many times in my life I thought about my plans and prepared for things to happen, but then those doors closed.
One thing that happened was when I was saving up for a car. I had a former coworker who was going to sell their car for a decent price, but they couldn’t sell it for three months when their other car would be ready. That was perfect for me, because I didn’t have enough money at the time, but I would in three months time. So, I saved up for three months.
The week that I finally had saved up enough money, I was at a friends house. Being the crazy guys we are we decided to learn how to do backflips, which is probably fine if your middle name isn’t “accident prone.” I ended up breaking my foot. I went to the doctor a couple days later and had to have surgery done. The good news was that because I had been saving up money for my car I had enough for the doctor bills as they came in. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to buy a car now because of that.
Looking back, I can now see how perfect God’s timing was because I was able to have enough money for the doctor bills. At the time though I was just upset over the whole thing. Later on, I found out that one of my dad’s coworkers was selling a similar car to the one I was going to buy, but slightly better, and significantly cheaper. Also, my doctor bills were less then I thought, so I had enough money after paying all my bills to also buy a car. I ended up buying a good car that fulfilled my needs and because of having to take off for my recovery, I was able to participate in several different events with my family.
Another neat thing about this story is I ran into the gal I was originally going to buy the car a month after all of this happened. I asked her if she had sold her car yet and it turned out that she ended up not selling it. Her husband had gotten a different job and needed the smaller car, so they ended up not selling it.
The Lord had worked out everything way better then I
had ever thought. I had made my plans and was going after it, but the Lord knew that that was a good thing, but he had better plans. Sometimes the Lord will close doors to good things, because he has a better plan than we can dream of. During those times we need to trust in God. He is wise beyond anything we can ever think of and he has our good in mind. Keep following him even when doors close in your face.
