"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace in time of need."~Hebrews 4:16
A "throne of grace." What picture does that imply? A throne means royalty. But we're not just talking about any old throne. It is the throne of God with God on it. When we pray we're praying to the one seated who is on this throne. This glorious God, whom if he was to have size he would use the whole world as a footstool. Shouldn't that just put a reverent fear in our hearts?
However, it is a throne of grace. Grace means free and undeserved favour. As it is a throne we don't go to the king's court to recieve scraps off the table. We are to come to this throne with "enlarged expectation" as Charles Spurgeon puts it.
Only as a throne of grace can we come with confidence to it. We are sinful and God can not abide sinfulness. Not until God the Son came down and atoned for our sins. Only then could we recieve grace and come with confidence.

We deserve the worst, but God gives us the best. What an awesome God we have.
Thanks Caleb!
